Rail: Project Manager/PE Saint Paul, Minnesota

Our services include projects for Class I and short-line railroads, passenger rail agencies, industrial facilities as well as government agencies.

TKDA is seeking a Registered Civil Engineer to serve as a Project Manager and Designer with experience managing, designing and coordinating construction activities associated with railroad projects. This position will be responsible for preparing design details, plans, specifications and construction cost estimates for track and yard projects. Project management experience will be required to develop engineering fee estimates and proposals, and to oversee that projects are completed on schedule and within budget, and meet regulatory guidelines. Our candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a strong focus on client satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the schedule and budget, and coordinate the design effort for multiple track and yard projects.
Prepare detailed engineering plans and construction documents for rail transportation projects.
Represent TKDA and Rail Clients during the construction phase of track and yard projects.
Provide construction oversight during construction to ensure design elements are implemented correctly.
Be familiar with standards, construction techniques, and have the ability to direct track projects in the field.
Exhibit technical writing abilities and the knowledge to prepare detailed specifications and reports.
Understand criteria of track geometry, project planning, and the procedures to layout CAD-based alignments.
Possess the ability to develop and analyze alternative track alignments.
Perform analysis of site feasibility, including profiles, drainage, grading quantities, and environmental review.
Understand railroad operations, design criteria, rules, and the components and function of the track structure.
Be familiar with the equipment used in the various types of track construction, maintenance and inspection.
Possess railroad experience with bridges, crossings, stations, drainage structures, yards, and facilities.
Be familiar with railroad standards, engineering records, and the operations of the railroad environment.

REQUIRED:
B.S. Civil Engineering
Professional Registration (preferred or the ability to obtain)
5+ years of Rail Engineering experience
Project Management experience and skill set
Excellent written and oral communications
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, MS Project
20-30% U.S.Travel
