System Issues Coordinator BSCI


BSCI, an initiative of the Foreign Trade Association; FTA, is a leading business-driven initiative for companies committed to improving working conditions in the global supply chain. FTA launched the BSCI in 2003 and currently unites more than 1000 companies around a development-oriented system, applicable to all sectors and sourcing countries.
We are looking for a System Issues Coordinator to support the BSCI Senior Manager Strategic Issues in ensuring the consistency of the BSCI system tools and processes. This includes among others keeping up-to-date fundamental documents and management tools used by companies and their producers in sourcing countries implementing the BSCI system in their supply chain.
The job:
  • Designing processes, building its related supporting tools and support integrating them in the BSCI system
  • Maintenance, development, coordination of translations and revision of BSCI tools and manuals (e.g. Management Manual)
  • Monitoring of developments at other relevant organisations (UN, OECD, EU, etc.) which could have an impact on the BSCI
  • Drafting of briefings, guidelines and position papers related to systemic questions including specific criteria, aspects of the BSCI Code of Conduct or other BSCI tools
  • Providing and keeping up-to-date certain legal information related to the BSCI Code of Conduct (overviews on legal wages, working time etc. in supplier countries)
  • Cooperation with other institutions and initiatives on benchmarking issues
Job requirements:
Essential:
  • Experience in analysing Social Standards and CSR policies and procedures
  • Experience in benchmarking and drafting proposals, guidelines or position papers
  • Experience in global supply chains
  • Good analytical and systemic thinking
  • Outstanding written skills
  • Good team player and cooperative spirit
  • Affinity with the goals of the organisation
  • Ability to fit well into a multi-cultural team
  • Fluent in English, additional languages are an asset, particularly German
  • Diplomatic, articulate and assertive
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows, notably Word, EXCEL and PowerPoint
  • Strong ability to multi-task and coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • At least 5 years relevant experience
Desirable:
  • Presentation skills
  • Understanding of challenges related to working conditions in the supply chain
