Details
The University of Tabuk was established in 2006 and is part of the Saudi Arabian government's ambitious investment in higher education. The university aims to grow to 50,000 students. Prior to regular undergraduate studies, students complete a preparatory year program which includes intensive English tuition.   
The Department of English at the University of Tabuk is currently seeking male and female instructors from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. 
Historic Tabuk, of 300,000 people, is situated in northwest Saudi Arabia. It is near Jordan and the ancient world wonder Petra, the Red Sea divers' paradise with pristine beaches and gender-equal access, and Egypt with the Sharm-el-Sheik seaside resort. Dating from 1500 BCE, Tabuk is surrounded by ruins from Paleolithic times through to the end of the Ottoman Empire era. Nearby are the holy city of Medina and the ancient site of Madain Saleh. Tabuk enjoys a high elevation, dry, sunny weather, and moderate temperatures (17 - 37 Cº) throughout the year. 
Job description
  • Teach English to undergraduate students at all levels within the Department of English.
  • Produce, grade and administer weekly assessment tests and exams.
  • Assess students' performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in all departmental activities, including weekly meetings.  
Qualifications
  1. Must be native/near native speakers of English.
  2. Holders of a PhD or Master in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or TEFL from an accredited university.
  3. Candidates' undergraduate qualifications should be relevant to their Masters or PhD.
  4. Must have at least two years' experience in teaching English preferably overseas in general and the Gulf States in particular.
NB.The university has to make it clear that those holding undergraduate qualifications which are not connected with their postgraduate studies will be rejected. This means that all qualifications should be of the same area of specialization.
Compensation
We offer an attractive remuneration package. Saudi Arabian universities can offer some of the best remuneration packages for English teachers. The low cost of living in Tabuk allows for a comfortable standard of living and substantial savings, and the remuneration package includes the following benefits:
  • Attractive tax-free basic salary, dependent on qualifications and experience. Salary scale is for Assistant Professors 13,000-15,800 Saudi Riyal (SAR), for Associate Professors 17,000-19,400 SAR and for full-Professors 20,800-23,300 SAR per month. There is an additional up to 25,000 SAR annual tuition allowance for children's education and one time 12,000 SAR furniture allowance. Faculty members can also earn an additional two months' of base salary for eligible funded research activities. Free round-trip air-ticket is provided annually to the employees and for up to three of their dependents from Tabuk to their point of origin. Saudi Arabia is tax-free country. Preceding salary amounts are take-home pay. Faculty members also get 2 months of paid summer vacation. Approximately 3.75 Saudi Riyals are 1 USD. 
  • Completion of contract bonus.

  • Children's private education allowance or free education at government schools.
  • Holidays - Paid annual holidays of about 90 days (60 days annual leave plus national holidays and university breaks).
