Participate: Knowledge from the margins for post 2015

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a leading global charity for research, teaching and information on international development, based in Brighton.
The Participation, Power and Social Change (PPSC) team at IDS works in partnership with diverse collaborators from around the world to generate ideas and action for social change. The Participate initiative, situated in the PPSC team, is a collaboration between IDS and the beyond 2015 campaign to ensure that the perspectives of the those living in poverty and most marginalised can effectively contribute to the post 2015 global policy framework.
We are seeking to recruit a Research Communication Manager to take the lead on articulating messages emerging from the participatory work encompassed by the Participate initiative in a way that can influence policy dialogues and debate. This position will involve working closely with the Participate co-directors, the Beyond 2015 campaign, and organisations carrying out participatory research in more than 30 countries to use processes of communication to influence the post 2015 framework, creating possibilities for debate, dialogue and contestation within the UN process and other global policy spaces
Applicants must have experience with participatory and/or popular communication in a development context; experience of communications planning and implementation of a complex programme of activities; experience with communicating research to policy audiences in creative and provocative ways and strong project management skills. They must have a strong understanding of and commitment to participatory research and will also have a master's degree in development, international relations or a related field or significant relevant experience

Salary: Initial appointment will be between £32,808 - £35,231 per annum, notional, (depending on experience), in the IDS Grade 7 range.
