IDS is a vibrant global institution applying research skills to the real world challenges of International Development. IDS hosts six dynamic research teams, eight popular postgraduate courses, and a family of leading-edge knowledge services. These services aim to mobilise knowledge to support better-informed decision making by those in a position to influence change.
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership to the Knowledge Services (KS) editorial team, to lead on fundraising and to ensure effective processes for developing and delivering KS outputs in collaboration with partners around the world.
The postholder will be responsible for:
- Setting the KS editorial strategy and providing intellectual and technical leadership to the editorial team
- Leadership and development of the KS strategy as part of the KS management team
- Leading on the KS fundraising strategy
- Building collaborative relationships with donors, partners and other stakeholders
- Financial and line management of the editorial section
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and strategic planning skills, in depth knowledge of editorial strategies and production (both electronic and print), and significant senior management experience, including at least 3 years leading and managing a knowledge or information project or working in International Development at a senior level.
Additionally, you will also have proven skills in fundraising and generating new business, building networks, identifying strategic opportunities and developing relationships with partners and donors. You will also have excellent writing and editorial skills coupled with good programme, budget and team management skills and a substantial understanding of international development issues and debates.
