Intern - Human Rights Education Communications Amnesty International


The Human Rights Education Team is responsible for the implementation of the International Human Rights Education Strategy, including the development and implementation of International Human Rights Education projects.
The Human Rights Education Team works to support and facilitate the HRE work of Amnesty International through: mobilizing existing national and regional resources, building the HRE capacity of the movement through improved coordination and communication, leading International HRE Projects, strengthening the Amnesty International HRE network, mainstreaming monitoring and evaluation of HRE work, and supporting of key Amnesty International global campaigns. The work of the Human Rights Education Team responds to the imperatives of the Integrated Strategic Plan, the International HRE Strategy, and the Growth and Mobilization Strategy, as well as to trends in the global HRE movement.
Role profile of the intern:
To assist in developing and maintaining communications channels and information exchange with the Amnesty International HRE Network, including Amnesty International HRE partners and the global HRE community to grow interaction and engagement, and increase the sharing and usage of skills and resources.
We are looking for an intern in the Human Rights Education Team for 5 days per week for a minimum of 6 months.
The successful volunteer/intern would be expected to carry out the following tasks:
1.  Assist with the delivery of the communications strategy of the International Human Rights Education Network, including but not limited to:
  •  Researching & writing, gathering video interviews and content for the e-bulletin,
  •  Updating website & intranet content,
  •  Assisting with capacity building of the Network regarding social networks, using videos, images, e-newsletters and implementing tracking & analysis systems,
  •  Researching & assisting in the sharing of expertise on specific topics and methodologies such as e-learning within the Network, as well as general information on human rights education.
2. Assist with the development and promotion of the Human Rights Education Online Resource centre.
3. Assist with the promotion and sharing of Human Rights Education activities. resources and case studies across the Amnesty International movement.
4. Assist with Network management.
We would expect the successful volunteer/intern to have the following skills and experience:
1. Excellent spoken and written English, preferably good knowledge of Spanish and French.
2. Excellent communications & networking skills, particularly with regard to international audiences across different platforms.
3. Excellent IT skills, including strong working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
4. Strong internet research skills.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
6. Interest in human rights education.
7. Interest in Visual Communication/Communication Design.
8. Understanding and acceptance of the confidentiality of AI work.
