Teaching Fellow Faculty of Natural Sciences

Imperial College London -Department of Life Sciences

Salary £32,930 - £40,720 per annum
The Department of Life Sciences wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow to contribute to the delivery of the Biochemistry and Biology degrees. Teaching Fellows contribute to teaching and administration in the department and play a vital role in the delivery of the undergraduate degree programmes.
The main responsibilities of the postholder will be to teach students at undergraduate level, including academic tutoring, personal tutoring, laboratory demonstrating (including development of new experiments), and lecturing (including setting and marking of examinations) as appropriate. Other key duties will be to provide course administration support. You will also be expected to contribute to the administration of the Department, to participate fully in the internal life of the Department and to enhance its reputation for pedagogy.
The postholder will be expected to support and develop teaching in the Department of Life Sciences. We will particularly encourage applications from individuals who can teach the core curriculum on biology and biochemistry courses. The successful applicant will report to the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
You must hold a degree and have or be near to completing a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. You must also have or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification.
You must also have teaching experience and be able to teach your subject to both specialists and non-specialists at undergraduate level. Evidence of administrative capacity, and experience of E-learning, would be an advantage, but are not essential. The ability to supervise projects or give lectures at postgraduate (Masters) level would be desirable
