Position Summary

Futures Group seeks an intern to assist under the Health Policy Project (HPP) in our Washington DC office.

The Health Policy Project focuses on key health issues—namely family planning and reproductive health, HIV, and maternal health—while also promoting health systems strengthening and program integration.

A series of health policy events are being planned for Fall 2012 that will require skills of a qualified intern able to support research, organization, logistic and writing tasks. This will include engagement with high level public health policy leaders from around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to organize and execute forums at the upcoming Alliance for Health Policy and Health Systems Conference in Beijing and the Advancing Country Ownership: Civil Society’s Role, consultation in Washington DC.
  2. Synthesizing evidence (consolidating tables, data and literature reviews) on civil society engagement in country ownership processes and the extent to which this affects health outcomes.
  3. Contributing to refine presentations, the outcomes of meetings and other inputs in documentation that will guide work on the topics of Ownership and health policy and health systems

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student or recent graduate in a PhD or Master’s degree program
  • Candidates should be completing a degree in Public Health, International Development, or Public Policy/Administration
  • Two page writing sample along with resume is required at the time of application.
  • Experience in policy analysis, HIV, Family Planning and/or experience working in a developing country is a plus.
  • Must have a strong academic record and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and internet
  • Strong writing and analysis skills
  • Professional demeanor and passion to contribute to the mission of Futures Group

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand or sit, and move about the facility
