Research Associate I in Nairobi, Kenya

Position Description:

  • Work closely with project staff to support project-specific GCLP laboratory audit activities and deliverables, and other project-specific activities.
  • Track/monitor local laboratory-related activities and information and prepare/present status reports.
  • Under supervision by project management staff, assist with capturing QA/QC details related to laboratory audits.
  • Monitor the progress of laboratory and project activities via telecommunications, e-mail; project-specific reporting and tracking of audits, reports, and other project metrics.
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings and participate in meetings with the government and the prime contractor as needed.
  • Manage the local laboratory-related paper files.
  • Tabulate local laboratory-related metrics.
  • Track audit reports.
  • Monitoring local laboratory audits and audit report schedules; prepare documents for upcoming laboratory audits.
  • Communicate with laboratory audit team members as requested.
  • Prepare laboratory-related training tools and presentations.
  • Review laboratory-developed documents and reports.
  • Prepare administration and analysis tools.
  • Interact with internal and external contacts to resolve issues with discretion, tact and poise.
  • Perform other related duties and administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

MS/MA /MPH with 3-5 years relevant experience and professional level of knowledge and expertise in research methods and application, BS/BA in public health or related field with 5-7 years relevant experience.

Familiarity with public health, HIV and/or clinical laboratories as related to clinical trials and laboratory analysis. Experience using relevant software and tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of and ability to use electronic data processing systems to gather, store, retrieve and analyze data. Must possess strong written, verbal, and organizational skills. Requires relevant English language skills and ability to manage fast-paced work flow with minimal supervision.
