AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents. AGA employs over 62,000 people globally. In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager. Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%. The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.
Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade. The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.45 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project). Construction began in 2011 and first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.
We are now seeking a number of Mine Services Technicians to join our Mining Team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Production Engineer, these roles provide support to the Mine Superintendent with all aspects of open pit operations. The roles include working with diesel pump operations, dewatering, maintenance of plant within the active mining area and operating light mobile equipment. The roles are an 8/6 day shift FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
- To assist Mine Superintendent with all aspects of open pit operations. This includes inspections, records and maintenance
- Organisation of consumables
- Monitor and maintain the dewatering systems
- Inspection, escort and monitoring of mining operations contractors
- Liaise with peers and customers to optimise water flows
- Operation or supervision of ancillary equipment within the Mining Area
- MMRS data entry
The ideal candidates will possess:
- Proficient level of computer skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- C Class Driver's Licence (HR preferred)
Candidates held in high regard will possess one or more of the following:
- Previous mining experience
- Previous dewatering or pumping experience
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Experience in managing contractors on $20k+ projects
- Trade qualified in a construction or maintenance related field
