POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for execution of a complete project consisting of all mechanical aspects of equipment along with maintaining scheduled commitments. Direct efforts of other engineers, designers and drafters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for all aspects of engineering sold orders to customer requirements. Will lead individuals in detailing and engineering of sold orders.
• Analyzes customer specifications and sales order documents to determine characteristics of job and to establish engineering objectives.
• Prepares layouts, detailed drawings, calculations, specifications and instructions necessary for preparation of detailed production drawings.
• Generates new ideas for product improvement, reliability and cost reduction. Recommend new projects to Marketing and seeks patentable ideas.
• Provides technical assistance to Marketing, Research and Development, Service Parts, Field Service and other Engineering personnel.
• May represent the organization in outside discussions and technical forums.
Education/Experience Requirements
• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required. Masters degree preferred.
• Professional Engineering License is preferred.
• 5 to 10 years of experience as a working engineer.
• Strong background in finite element analysis theory and application.
• Strong background in solid mechanics, structural design, machine design and vibrations is required.
• Good computer skills are required.
• Good interpersonal skills needed in order to work closely and communicate effectively with customers and all FLSmidth departments involved in applicable projects.
• Ability to set priorities, plan and organize.
• Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
