Chauffeur (MSG) US EMBASSY IN SOUTH AFRICA

Introduction

The U.S. Consulate General, Cape Town is seeking an individual for the position of Chauffeur.

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS WHO ARE NOT SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

Items 1- 5 are ALL REQUIRED


1. Education: Successful completion of Grade 10 (Standard 8) is required.
2. Experience: Five years of professional full-time chauffeur or driver experience and an overall accident-free driving record for the past five years is required.
3. Language:
- English level III - good working knowledge in writing, reading and speaking is required.
- Level II - limited knowledge in another local South African language is required.
4. Knowledge:
- Must have a thorough knowledge of South African traffic rules and regulations, and familiarity with driving conditions and restrictions.
- Must be familiar with the city layout of Cape Town and the surroundings areas within a 50 kilometer radius of U.S. Consulate General.
- Must have knowledge of how to operate a Global Positioning System (GPS).
5. Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read road maps and plot routes to unfamiliar destinations.
- Must be able to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license Code 10 (C1) with valid Professional Drivers Permit (PDP) endorsement.
- Must be able to perform minor vehicle maintenance.

Job Specification

Basic Function of Position:

The incumbent operates a passenger vehicle in accordance with instructions from Dispatcher or Detachment Commander to transport Marine Security Guards and when necessary Embassy/Consulate personnel and official visitors within the city and surrounding areas. The incumbent performs messenger duties as directed, maintains vehicle in clean and serviceable condition; performs minor maintenance. The incumbent completes trip sheets, gas records and vehicle inspection reports.

Basic Salary: R80,307 – R112,427 per annum
Cash Benefits: R18,306 – R20,983 per annum
Non-cash benefits include medical, pension and others where applicable
