Archiving Intern

Chemonics seeks a Washington-based archivist intern for its Caucasus and Central Asia region. The intern will serve full time for a period of two to three months with possible extension. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
General Summary or Background:
The Caucasus and Central Asia region has several projects which closed in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and all field office files were shipped from the region to D.C. The archiving intern will help the Operations team in ensuring that these field office files are up-to-date, accurate, and well organized, and then archived into permanent storage.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
o Conduct an audit of the projects' personnel files
o Ensure proper back-up documentation is present and cross-checking with a checklist
o Cross-checking with e-files and printing necessary documents
o Checking ST files for deliverables
o Auditing expense reports
o Conduct an audit of the projects' subcontract and grant files
o Ensure proper documentation is present and cross-checking with a checklist
o Cross-checking with e-files and printing necessary documents
o Conduct an audit of procurement and financial files
o Ensure proper documentation is present and cross-checking with a checklist
o Reconciling with files from procurement department
o Reconciling file index with the FO file index
o Auditing the remaining files and reconciling with electronic files
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
•Currently enrollment in a degree program at an accredited college or university
•Demonstrated interest in international development
•Knowledge of USAID's main clients and work activities
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
•Strong organization skills and acute attention to detail
•Problem solving skills and initiative to learn new skills
•Familiarity with Microsoft software and database systems
•Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
•Russian language proficiency is preferred
•U.S work authorization required
