Development Specialist - Health Arlington, VA USA

Application Deadline:   12/31/2012 Description:   Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is currently seeking a Development Specialist for a position in our Arlington, VA offices (located at Courthouse Metro on the Orange Line).  The opening is in our Health Practice, which manages a portfolio of projects focusing on health system strengthening, health governance, and public/private partnerships in developing countries.  Responsibilities for this position include the following: Project Management ·         Serving as Project Coordinator for donor-funded projects and liaising between field and headquarters office teams on all administrative matters, particularly finance and contractual compliance ·         Tracking multiple project budgets, supporting realignment activities, and developing budget projections in collaboration with Project Managers and/or Directors ·         Liaising with project subcontractors, reviewing and processing related invoices, and working with contracts team to finalize contractual modifications ·         Assisting with the process of hiring and supervising consultants ·         Contributing to donor reporting requirements and assisting in the review and submission of deliverables Business Development ·         Supporting the business development cycle, including identifying potential opportunities and assisting with pre-proposal capture and recruitment efforts ·         During proposal development, coordinating proposal processes and inputs, liaising with subcontractors, reviewing documents for quality and compliance, and helping ensure submission requirements are met ·         Providing technical input on proposals, including writing assignments for discrete proposal sections Technical Assignments  ·         Supporting project communications and eminence building activities ·         Conducting field and desktop research to inform project programming ·         Providing other assistance to country projects in relevant technical areas as necessary Qualifications: Masters degree (MPH, MBA or MPP preferred) required 3-5 years of prior successful experience in development consulting; experience supporting USAID-funded international health projects preferred   Familiarity with business development cycle and terminology for US Government clients and other international donors Superior organizational skills and focused attention to detail; ability to efficiently manage multiple deadlines Excellent written and oral communication skills Fluency in English required, and knowledge of a second language preferred US work authorization required Special Instructions:  EEO/M/F/V Cardno offers an excellent compensation and benefits package.
