Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, medical, emergency relief organisation that provides assistance to people worldwide, regardless of their background, religion or political convictions. MSF Operational Centre Amsterdam (OCA) currently operates medical humanitarian interventions in 25 countries. On a yearly basis MSF-Holland deploys over 1100 international staff and employs approximately 7500 national staff. At headquarters in Amsterdam, approximately 180 employees offer their support to the projects.

Assistant to the Delegate Director and the Director of Resources (100%)

As assistant you will work for both the Delegate Director and the Director of Resources, both management team members of MSF-Holland.
The Delegate Director is responsible for the development of the Dutch Home society strategy and external representation in the Netherlands and in this respect responsible for the Communication and Fundraising departments. The Communication and Fundraising departments have as their main task to generate attention for the work of MSF and to raise broad (financial) support and involvement of the Dutch Public. With regards to representation in the Dutch Home society, the Delegate Director is responsible for lobby activities, establishment of contacts and networks and ensures sustained engagement with key actors in the Netherlands to advance MSF advocacy and interests in key areas. The Delegate Director also manages the internal processes in the Amsterdam office including amongst others internal communication, promotion of the office culture and management of facilities.
The Director of Resources is responsible for the organizational activities within the scope of resources within MSF-H and in our field operations. The Director of Resources hierarchically manages the departments of Finance, HRM, Logistics and ICT and ensures the development and implementation of strategic resources priorities within the scope of these departments.
At the Executive secretariat you work in a team of four assistants. Together with the other assistants you ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the secretariat. You will be directly line managed by the Delegate Director.
Position
You coordinate day-to-day business in support of the Delegate Director and the Director of Resources, such as dealing with correspondence, administrative support and efficient arranging and monitoring of the agendas and travel schedules. You assume a pro-active role in coordinating and supplying information; you identify communication requirements of the organization that should be realized by the Directors and you supply relevant information to relevant staff on developments taking place in the sphere of the Directors. Upon request of the Directors you contribute to policy preparation such as desk research and preparation of meetings.
Profile
For this position we are looking for a flexible and pro-active team player with excellent organisational, representative and communicative skills. You have a higher vocational education and proven experience in a similar position. You are stress resistant and you know how to deal with information of a confidential nature and you are able to manage conflicts of interests. Fluent Dutch with excellent command of English is a prerequisite.
You are able to distinguish between issues to be dealt with independently and matters of which the strategic relevance calls for mutual reconciliation. Knowledge of the internal organisational and decision making processes are an advantage.

  • A contract for one year with a renewal option;
  • A gross salary in scale 5 with a minimum of € 2.188,- and a maximum of € 3.126,- per month, depending on relevant professional work experience and based on a 40-hour working week;
