Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is currently seeking a Senior Development Specialist for a position in our
Private Clients Unit. The position
is based in our Arlington, VA offices (located at Courthouse Metro on the
Orange Line).
The
Private Clients Unit focuses on helping companies operate more sustainably and
responsibly in developing markets. Our clients are mainly oil, gas and mining
companies. Our services enable these companies to create positive opportunities
for local communities and to minimize negative social and environmental impacts
in and around investment sites.
We
are a global practice with staff based in Melbourne, Brisbane, London, Washington,
Jakarta, and Port Moresby. Areas of capability include Social Investment
Strategy, Community Engagement, Stakeholder Analysis, Local Content
Initiatives, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Management, Health
Workforce Programs, and Impact Monitoring and Reporting.
The
Senior Development Specialist will
help the Private Clients team with business development, project management, client/partner/consultant
relationships, and technical assistance in his or her areas of expertise. Specific responsibilities for this position
include:
Business
development:
·
manage a designated set of corporate client relationships;
·
identify opportunities, clients and teaming partners;
·
participate in the development and preparation of proposals;
·
contribute to the development of marketing materials;
·
update and maintain existing business development tools and
systems; and
·
represent Cardno at conferences, speaking engagements and other
marketing opportunities as needed.
Project
Coordination:
·
Backstop projects as required, including monitoring project
budgets, reviewing invoices, and helping field teams and consultants comply
with contract requirements;
·
liaise between field and headquarters office on all administrative
matters; and
·
work with Recruitment to mobilize consultants and recruit project
staff.
Technical:
·
Provide technical leadership in one of the areas of capability
mentioned above and/or new areas of interest;
·
conduct desktop research for projects and strategic planning; and
·
contribute to project deliverables as required.
Qualifications:
·
Master’s degree required
(MBA, or relevant international field)
·
At least 5 years of
experience working in the corporate sector on CSR, sustainability, social
performance or related issues; or working in international development on
corporate engagement, public-private partnerships or similar field
·
Familiarity with the
mining or oil & gas sectors a plus
·
Excellent oral,
presentation, writing and editing skills
·
Ability to travel up to
25%
·
Highly motivated,
organized and detail oriented
·
Proactive and
entrepreneurial
·
Demonstrable ability in
Excel and PowerPoint
·
Proficiency in English
and Spanish required
·
US work authorization
required
