The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU-VN), Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programme Viet Nam aims to have a positive and significant impact on global health, through an integrated clinical and laboratory research programme. The research programme focuses on clinical trials, central nervous system infections, dengue fever, enteric infections, malaria, respiratory infections, tuberculosis and zoonosis with links and/or units across the region in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Nepal.
In collaboration with centres across South East Asia and Africa OUCRU-VN is leading a large randomised controlled trial in HIV associated cryptococcal meningitis. The study is at an advanced stage of development and expects to begin recruiting patients in the last quarter of 2012. This position will oversee the day-to-day management of this multi-centre clinical trial and offers the right candidate an exciting opportunity to participate in a vibrant research atmosphere working on a disease of global relevance.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, well organised clinician with significant clinical experience in caring for patients with HIV and opportunistic infections. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team, and evidence of the ability to achieve specified objectives and to build productive working relationships with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds. Clinical and research experience working in resource poor settings is desirable. Registration, or eligibility for registration, with the General Medical Council of the UK is essential.
