Head of IT Security London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is seeking to appoint a new Head of IT Security to work across IT and the wider stakeholder community, forming and delivering the IT Security strategy for the School. This is a senior role in the IT leadership team and the perfect next step for a Senior IT Security professional (CISA) or IT Security Manager (CISM) to move in to a leadership role.
Due to the growth and success of the School it is currently modernising and improving its professional services to support this growth.
As part of this change IT delivery has been altered from a federated model by the formation of centralised IT Function. This has created an exciting new role for a group Head of IT Security to conceive, establish and deliver a new IT Security strategy and capability.
The Role:
  • Operate as a business facing senior manager within the IT function, supporting the IT Director in the delivery of IT improvement and increased awareness of IT security as part of enterprise wide risk management.
  • Design and deliver a coherent IT Security Strategy including; IT security policies and procedures IT Audit, Data Protection and Software Licensing.
  • Through strong business & IT stakeholder engagement pragmatically police the operational effectiveness of all IT security initiatives as part of delivering end to end IT security improvement. 
The Candidate:
  • With significant IT Security knowledge, ideally with some exposure to the Higher Education sector, you will have the ability to design and deliver a coherent organisation wide IT Security Strategy. This will include policies and procedures covering IT Audit, Data Protection and Software Licensing.
  • An outstanding communicator with the ability to sensitively coach stakeholders and user communities in the importance of IT Security. You will also have the ability to act as change agent seeking to coach mentor and raise the game of the wider IT team.
  • You will have retained the hands on technology knowledge to allow you to take, or organise, appropriate remediation action eliminating issues presenting serious immediate risk to the School.
Salary Up to £57,000pa plus pension
