The role
The Senior Soil Scientist will predominantly focus on the delivery of technical specialist skills in the area of soil science and will also incorporate aspects of project management and business development.
The position will be responsible for the relevant technical and managerial aspects of projects (or parts thereof in the case of very large projects). In particular, the senior soil scientist is expected to show high levels of initiative, require minimal supervision and be capable of taking management responsibility for large projects and a team.
The person
You will have extensive experience in the field of soil science and a working knowledge of Australian conditions, legislation and standards.
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate a range of technical assessments including:
Strategic Cropping Land Assessments, , sediment and erosion control plans and mine waste characterisation, closure and rehabilitation assessments and plans; Acid Sulphate Soil and Land Resource Assessments (Land capability and suitability studies), Landform characterisation / suitability assessments, knowledge and application of GIS, and Risk Management and Remediation Planning for major international CSG and Mining Clients.
An adaptable and proactive approach will assist you to work autonomously and as a critical member of a technical community across several disciplines.
