Purpose of the position
The Creative Designer will take care of the creative development and production of visuals and tools for Fairfood’s corporate communications, campaigns and fundraising activities. This includes online communications, audio visuals, graphics, print, event promotion and gadgets. Using specialised graphic and multimedia software packages, the graphic designer works closely with corporate communications, advocacy and fundraising colleagues to establish the desired look and feel while managing quality, costs and adhering to deadlines.

Department
The Communications and Fundraising department is composed of two specialised and interdependent teams headed by the Director Communications and Fundraising. Each team is composed of several managers headed by a senior manager. The Creative Designer reports to the Senior Manager Communications and is a member of the Communications team. Their role is to enhance Fairfood’s brand, culture and external reputation in support of positioning a fair and sustainable food system as desirable, possible and inevitable and also to establish Fairfood as a leading voice in this context.

Responsibilities
1. Creative development and production of visuals
The Creative Designer is responsible for conceptualization and design of graphics from concept to completion. In consultation with team members, the Creative Designer interprets needs and develops concepts to suit the purpose. He/she makes the connection between their needs and what is possible technically, financially within a given timeframe. He/she respects Fairfood’s branding guidelines when developing audio visual materials and obtains approval of concept by submitting draft layout for approval to the Senior Manager Communications and is responsible for visual execution.
2. Coordinating with freelancers and outside agencies
Occasionally, the Creative Designer works with the assistance of freelancers/outside agencies. Therefore he/she manages a network of different creative designers and graphic freelancers who can support Fairfood’s creative needs. He/she interprets Fairfood’s objectives and requirements regarding quality, brand awareness, costs and deadlines and sees to it that the freelancers/outside agencies implement Fairfood’s requests and develop a concept that meets Fairfood’s needs within the required time and budget.
3. Advise senior management
The Creative Designer uses computer software to generate new images, visuals as needed and provides senior management with advice, when relevant, about new design developments to ensure the organisation can maintain its strong branding position within its budget.

• Demonstrated experience working with design software, preferably Adobe Creative Suite as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models and interest in new developments in design software
• Affinity with Fairfood’s goals
