A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join a friendly team of environmental professionals who are committed to minimising threats to public and environmental health.
You will enforce and promote Environmental Health standards as set out in law and policy, and ensure statutory enforcement functions relating to development are undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements.
The position will include a wide range of environmental management and public health experiences including food shops, skin penetration procedures, health and environment complaints and land use issues.
The successful applicant will have an in-depth knowledge of health and environmental legislation, experience in negotiations and mediation and the ability to prepare detailed reports.

Essential:
- Degree or Diploma in environmental health/building or related field.
- Experience in negotiations and mediation on complex matters.
- Preparation of detailed reports.
- In-depth knowledge of health and environmental legislation.
- Current Drivers licence.
- Liaise with representatives of relevant authorities/departments/organisations and neighbouring councils, regarding environmental health and planning issues.
- Provide expert advice and give evidence in the Land and Environment Court and any other relevant Court.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Effective complaints handling skills and experience
- PC Skills in Word, Excel and Access
- Demonstrated experience in Local Government
