The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent Government Authority responsible for the planning and integrated management of water resources of the Murray-Darling Basin. The role of the Social and Economic Policy Analysis Branch is to provide economic and social analysis, research, and policy advice to support all aspects of the Authority’s functions under the Water Act.
The Authority is looking for people with well-developed skills in public policy, economic policy or social policy.
You will preferably be familiar with, or have an interest in, water resource issues, the Murray Darling Basin and/or other aspects of national water policy. You should also be able, or willing to develop the ability, to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary organisation.
The duties will vary depending on the section you are placed but involve:
  • undertaking public policy and/or economic and social analysis in the following areas:
  1. Monitoring and evaluation of the social and economic outcomes arising from the Basin Plan.
  2. Informing various elements of the implementation of the Basin Plan.
  3. Support the implementation and management of the water trading rules under the Basin Plan, and provide input to a range of water market related issues.
