Background:
ECPAT International is a leading global network of 82 organisations in 75 countries working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes. The ECPAT International Board of Trustees is looking to appoint an extraordinary leader with a remarkable track record to carry out the general management of the Secretariat and to coordinate and support the work of ECPAT International (ECPAT).
Job description:
Key objectives:
To establish a collaborative and strong working relationship with the Chairperson and Board members.
To lead the Secretariat management team and maintain the shared dedication among staff and partners addressing their needs and interest to elicit full support for making ECPAT’s overall agenda operational. Ensure fiscal robustness and sound financial management, cost effectiveness and impact results that enhance protection of children.
To develop and strengthen the ECPAT network for greater coherence that will ensure all national and affiliate groups throughout the network benefit from even more effective, efficient and responsive programmes to enable advocacy with a single clear voice, harness innovations and best practices to meet current and future challenges.
To increase the prominence of ECPAT and create greater influence for global advocacy on CSEC by forging collaborations and alliances with key stakeholders and partners from government, inter-governmental agencies, United Nations agencies, international non-government organizations and the private sector to engage their support and influence action for realization of child rights to protection from commercial sexual exploitation.
Key Responsibilities:
Establishing and maintaining excellent Board relationship
Secretariat leadership, management and succession planning
Development of the ECPAT network and solidarity building
Fundraising
Financial management and ensuring fiscal soundness of the organization
Strategic planning and priority setting
Programme Development
Public education and advocacy
Maintaining and developing key relationships among the following stakeholders: the ECPAT International Chairperson and Board of Trustees; the ECPAT Network comprised of National and affiliate groups, EICYAC, young people and children; United Nations agencies (UNICEF and ILO-IPEC); Governments and inter-governmental agencies; Major donors and key partners; International non-government organisations; and the private sector
Candidate requirements:
5-10 years of executive management experience, working in an international non-governmental organization and/or similar movement-style organization.
Advanced knowledge and skills in the advocacy of child rights and the protection of children, preferably in the area of commercial sexual exploitation of children.
Understands the conventions, structure, functions and passion of a grass-roots movement of activism that has grown into an international non-government organisation as well as the wider cultural, economic and social environment in which it operates.
Able to develop and establish positive working interactions with people at all levels; both inside and outside the organization.
Well-developed business acumen and strategic insight. Able to see the big picture, identify strategic goals, and develop and communicate a clear and inspiring strategic direction.
Highly effective manager, able to develop a cooperative environment, inspiring and motivating staff, while maintaining a sound understanding and application of the most effective management practices to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Excellent oral and written communications with a wide range of people, nationalities, languages and situations.
Passionate with a high level of energy with motivation and desire to achieve.
Masters degree or higher tertiary qualification preferred, however Master-level thinking and working experience acceptable.
Languages: Fluency in English is essential but additional language skills are considered to be an advantage, in particular, Spanish and French.
