Water/Sanitation/Shelter Project Manager

Overview
The British Red Cross (BRC) helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
We are recruiting five new posts as part of an exciting new British Red Cross approach to emergency response and capacity building to complement our existing surge capacity systems. This pool of five senior managers will have the requisite operational experience to be immediately be deployed to disaster zones. They will help fulfil the organisation’s commitment to strengthening the international Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
The Water/Sanitation/Shelter Project Manager will be responsible for supporting or managing WatSan and/or Shelter projects at potentially any stage throughout the project cycle, including supporting or managing teams to assess, identify, design and implement appropriate WatSan and/or Shelter interventions with communities affected by conflict or natural disaster. The successful applicant will have professional qualifications and strong international experience in water & sanitation and/or shelter, especially within an emergency response context. Another key requirement is flexibility to balance the contrasting demands of time spent on mission with time supporting other programmes and departments in the UK and overseas. The post holder will be employed as UK-based staff initially on a 2-year fixed term contract. The job will require flexibility, with post-holders expected to deploy at short notice for up to three months. Working and travelling in remote and potentially unstable areas, they may be required to spend up to nine months a year abroad. When working abroad the expatriate delegate terms and conditions will apply, including mission allowances.
