NRC has been active in Pakistan since 2001 and became an independent country program in early 2010. Today, NRC Pakistan has nine offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA and Balochistan, and is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the country.
NRC is having vacant the position as Protection and Advocacy Adviser (PAA), to strengthen advocacy, protection aspects, and to facilitate implementation of and consistency with NRC's global strategies and policies within the country programme. The PAA reports to the NRC Country Director, and is a member of the Country Management Team.
Job description ■Strengthen and coordinates NRC's advocacy response to prioritized Pakistan advocacy and protection issues, linked to program, both within the country and internationally ■Provide timely and context specific information to internal and external stakeholders ■Ensure that country programme staff identify and respond to prioritised advocacy and protection concerns ■Conduct advocacy training for country programme staff ■Ensure that NRC global advocacy and protection strategies, plans and policies are implemented ■Ensure that country programme staff are familiar with relevant advocacy and protection tools, including relevant international legal frameworks ■Ensure that country specific advocacy strategies and plans are developed and integrated in the overall country strategy ■Represent NRC in public and private forums with key stakeholders ■Assist with fundraising and drafting/review of proposals for country programme advocacy ■Provide the context - and protection analysis needed as background information in country donor applications and reports

Qualifications ■University degree or higher education relevant to human rights e.g. law, social sciences, international policy or international development ■At least 5 years experience in humanitarian advocacy and protection, and a minimum of 2 years humanitarian field experience with responsibilities such as strategy development, planning and implementation of activities, analysis and drafting ■Experience working in complex emergencies and natural disasters. Candidates with experience from working within the UN or international NGOs will be given preference ■Experience in advocacy, protection training and staff mentoring ■Representation experience in private and public forums, including as a media spokesperson ■Understanding of humanitarian coordination, funding and leadership mechanisms, experience of working with protection cluster or sectoral coordination ■Knowledge of relevant protection frameworks and International Humanitarian, Human Rights and Refugee Law, and the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement ■Strategic advocacy skills such as communication, negotiation and diplomacy ■Fluency in English, written and verbal ■Above average computer literacy ■Holder of a valid international driver’s licence
