Program Manager


Summary: Located in the GE-NMF Primary Care Leadership Program office in New Orleans, LA, this position reports to the PCLP Director. The successful Program Manager will have program and supervisory experience, be entrepreneurial, energetic and willing to work hard and embrace NMF’s mission. The ideal program manager will be a self-starter who also can inspire a small team to work effectively, has great communications skills and can also work in a virtual environment with staff in New York and geographically dispersed stakeholders (faculty, community health centers and advisory committee members). Excellent written and verbal communications skills required and the ability to develop program content and make complex information understandable to diverse audiences are keys to success. Willing to do what it takes to get the job done regardless of the time required.
Responsibilities
Program Development: assure all program elements meet or exceed funder and partners’ expectations. Assure that program content is up-to-date and specific to partner locations. Seek and incorporate advice from experts and develop strategies to enhance PCLP program content and resources.
Supervision: manage two coordinators with responsibility for scholar recruitment and program communications (website, social media, handbooks, etc). Encourage a team approach and assure that all staff are working together with clear goals, timelines, processes and procedures.
Relationship Management: assure that stakeholder relations are maintained and enhanced, developing and leading appropriate communications strategies. Capable of working with high-level professional advisors, community health center leaders, and faculty advisors.
Reporting and Documentation: develop reporting processes and assure that all information requests, interaction with stakeholders etc. are documented and that PCLP is accurately documented and reported upon.
Scholar Tracking: assure that all 2012 alumni are tracked and develop processes to build an alumni base for PCLP. Develop and enhance processes to update student records in NMF database and Raiser’s Edge.
Stewardship: assure that NMF meets or exceeds partnering funder’s program requirements; develop program management tools that identify and respond quickly to any challenges and opportunities.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years experience in non-profit or government sector; direct supervisory experience required.
  • Graduate degree strongly preferred. Experience in healthcare management, community health centers or academic training programs highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of local healthcare framework and Greater New Orleans community required.
  • Knowledge of scholarship programs, financial aid processes, admissions for medical, nursing and/or physician assistant training programs highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required; experience in speaking to diverse groups, training or lecturing highly desired.
  • Technical proficiency to synthesize content and develop appropriate and engaging PowerPoint presentations; webinars; teleconferencing or virtual conference experience required.
  • Contact management database experience strongly preferred. NMF uses Raiser’s Edge.
  • Ability to work independently and interactively with local staff; report to and seek advice from PCLP Director and collaborate with NMF headquarters’ staff as needed.
This position requires some travel to program sites for cultivation, orientation and as needed. Additional travel may be required to professional meetings.
Ideally the Program Manager will be a full-time staff person immediately. For a seasoned professional and on a case-by-case basis, NMF may consider an initial contract.
Compensation is based on experience, track record and strategic fit with current staff.
