Development Manager


Reports To: Executive Director
Responsibilities of the Development Manager
The Development Manager is responsible for organizing, planning and leading fundraising activities for the Affiliate with oversight of direct reporting staff, interns and volunteers. The Development Manager will be tasked with diversifying and expanding current fundraising strategies with an emphasis on third party/external events. Additionally, this position will support the development aspect of national partnerships and sponsorships, as well as local sponsorships. The Development Manager will have responsibility for special events, including Race for the Cure® and the annual gala, Designs for the Cure.
This position is also responsible for assisting with the day-to-day fundraising and operations of the office, including providing administrative and financial support for the Affiliate and coordination of office services.
Candidate should be familiar with leading strategic planning for the Development Department, annual department budget development, producing analytics and projection reports on a monthly basis for leadership and Board meetings.
Position Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; have a minimum of three years managerial experience in fundraising/special events preferably within the non-profit sector. Minimum five years of progressive event or project support experience in development/fundraising-focused professional environment(s).

• Effective leadership and supervisory skills to develop motivate and retain assigned staff and volunteers.
• Exceptional project management skills and ability to multi-task within budgetary and resource constraints and timelines. Good organization and follow-up skills
• Must be able to think critically and strategically and anticipate potential project challenges.
• Comprehensive computer and database knowledge necessary (MS Office Suite, Convio, Salesforce, and other data base programs relative to the position). Web content management is preferred.
• Driver’s license, proof of liability insurance and access to an automobile.
• Ability to travel, work evenings and weekends, and attend and work Affiliate events.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
Travel, evening and weekend work required.
Salary/Benefits
The Development Manager is a full-time position. Salary is based on qualifications and experience. This position includes health, dental and vision insurance, parking, paid holidays, two weeks of vacation, and 64 hours of paid sick leave per year.
