Rocketship Education is the leading public school system for low-income elementary students. The PositionThe Rocketship Education Manager of Systems and Operations is a full-time, exempt position. This individual works to create, develop, revise and codify key operational systems at the school, regional and national levels that will ensure the organization realizes its mission and vision to eliminate the achievement gap and serve over 1 million students in 50 regions

This position will be on the National Team responsible for work that will service the entire Rocketship Education Organization at the National, Regional, and School levels.

Responsibilities

The Director’s duties include:

Student Information System

• Design the architecture of National Student Information System (PowerSchool/Powergrade/PowerLunch)
• Create plan to bring PowerSchool design and administration in house
• Support Regional and School Operations teams to manage data collection and enrollment process for students
• Design process for updating existing student information on a semi-annual basis
• Identify other Rocketship systems that interface with PowerSchool and create systems and processes to ensure seamless data information flow
• Evaluate PowerSchool’s ability to meet needs of varied stakeholders

Lottery and Enrollment:

• Refine the lottery and enrollment system creating
• Create enhancements for Bay Area Lottery system
• Adapt Lottery and enrollment system to meet needs of Milwaukee Region
• Design process for instance creation for all new regions

Compliance System & Reporting:

• Design and create a system to hold regions accountable for all national, state and authorizer, and Rocketship compliance metrics
• Identify Rocketship compliance metrics that all schools and regions should meet irrespective of region or authorizer
• Create a system that will allow regions to populate state/authorizer specific compliance deliverables
• Develop national oversight process
• Manage state reporting process for CALPADS and CBEDS
• Collaborate with Regional Director of Business to understand SIS reporting requirements in new regions
• Complete all student information data reporting requirements for Rocketship (internal stakeholders, authorizers, research, etc.

Knowledge Management System:

• Collaborate with Strategy and Data Team to develop to conduct a Knowledge Management needs assessment within the organization.
• Identify Knowledge Management best practices in the CMO field and beyond.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Possess the core characteristics required of every Rocketeer – mission-driven, innovative, disciplined thinker, collaborative, and personally responsible
• Deep commitment to Rocketship’s mission to eliminating the achievement gap in our lifetimes
• Demonstrated proficiency in strategic and project planning, incorporating the perspective and participation of multiple stakeholders
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills
• Experience managing multiple critical deadlines and adapting quickly and confidently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with representatives from all levels of organization, including board members, external funders, school leaders and teachers
• Experience, creating monitoring and maintaining adaptable cross-functional systems that enhance organizational efficiency and that can adapt to the needs of multiple operating requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, and the ability to quickly learn new applications
• BA / BS Degree Required (MBA, MA preferred)
• 3+ years of professional experience operations, strategy and/or complex projects
• Management experience preferred
• Experience project planning strongly preferred
• Awareness of K-12 education reform issues
