The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is seeking to recruit a national from its Member Countries to fill the position of Division Chief, Technical Cooperation Division in the Projects
Department. The successful candidate will be based at CDB’s headquarters in St. Michael,Barbados.
CDB is a regional multilateral development bank which was established in October 1969 to contribute to the harmonious economic growth and development of the member countries in the Caribbean Region and to promote economic cooperation and integration among them, having special and urgent regard to the needs of the less-developed members of the Region. CDB began operations in January 1970 and has become a leading catalyst for providing development financing, technical assistance and policy advice to its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) for the reduction of poverty.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Projects, the Division Chief (DC), Technical Cooperation Division (TCD) contributes to the strategic management of PD. The DC, TCD’s accountability covers responsibility for delivery of the Division’s work programme, quality of work, results, and risk management including compliance with Bank policies and procedures. As a member of the PD management team, that accountability extends to the modelling of appropriate behaviours and the relevant competencies.
As leader of the TCD team, the DC is expected to provide general guidance and advice to his/her team on complex tasks and serve as an effective focal point in the screening of TA projects and monitoring and reporting on the Bank’s TA portfolio. In terms of results, the DC, TCD is accountable for the management, development and execution of the project cycle management process for CDB-funded technical assistance projects and programmes. The DC, TCD is supported in the delivery of these results by a team of middle-managers, technical officers and administrative staff.
He/she is expected to contribute knowledge and experience to the various document review processes within the Operations Area and across the Bank.
The Candidate
• Eligible candidates should have a Masters’ degree in an area relevant to development banking, and specifically to the work of the Division; with a first degree in any of the social sciences, natural sciences, or other relevant discipline.

• Candidates should have at least 12 years relevant professional experience in public, regional or international organisations providing technical expertise in areas related to capacity building for social and economic development and in the management of development projects
• Candidates should have at least six (6) years management experience at a senior level in public, regional or international organisations, or in a private sector organisation.
• The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
