Department
BBC Information and Archives (part of the Technology, Distribution & Archive department of the Operations Division) is located in London, Caversham and throughout the English regional centres, and is a key contributor to the programme-making process. I&A manages one of the world's largest audio-visual archives, in an environment where new technology, digitisation and creativity are at the forefront of developing improved access to this very valuable resource.
The archive is a working collection of content and information that includes BBC television and radio programme output, music, information research, pictures and documents. The department adheres to a media management policy for the identification, selection and archiving of material. This fulfils our Charter obligations as well as the business functions of utilising existing material for re-use and research. Our customers are BBC programme makers, external clients, policy makers, historians and increasingly our audiences.

Role
Archive Innovation Executives have key responsibility for development and delivery of a media management strategy/solution. As a key leader in delivering change and innovation, you will work in a team across BBC Content producing departments (responsibility will be confined to a specificed area of the business) to ensure a consistent innovation response to the changes in how content is managed and archived in order to:
You will apply archive standards to the BBC's media assets throughout their lifecycle and take ownership of the BBC’s Media Management Policies and support mechanisms.
You'll need to build strong working relationships with the content producing areas of the BBC, whilst leading on innovation within I&A that reflects and supports new innovations being developed, ensuring that our business model remains aligned to the needs of the business.
You will work with key stakeholders and teams in business areas to develop an extensive understanding of the workflows and output of each area, with a view to innovating effective media management solutions that align to the strategic aims of I&A.

Requirements
You will hold a recognised professional qualification in Archives, Records Management, Librarianship, Information Management, or TV/Radio Production (or similar), or a higher education qualification closely related to the work of the service concerned, or substantial relevant experience.
You will bring extensive experience of influencing and negotiation and proven ability to successfully manage relationships within an archive or production environment
The ability to manage your own workload for extended periods without direct supervision and to plan utilisation of staff resource to ensure maximisation of resource effort, is key.
