BBC Drama Production’s in-house Casting department specialises in casting hugely successful dramas including EastEnders, Casualty, Holby City and Doctors. It also casts other shows across the BBC including single films and returning series.
We are looking for a Casting Assistant to make arrangements for casting sessions, liaise with agents, deal with correspondence and carry out other general office duties.
You will support Casting Directors by acting as the main point of contact for agents, producers and directors for internal and external productions therefore representing the BBC and the In- House Casting Department.
As Casting Assistant you’ll arrange casting sessions, respond to correspondence, communicate script breakdowns and any last minute changes to team, deal with late scripts or schedules as well as sourcing young actors.
You’ll have experience in casting, along with knowledge of actors, programme making as well as a passion for BBC Drama. You’ll also need excellent IT, organisation, administration and communication skills.
To be successful you will have the ability to work under your own initiative, work well under pressure and to tight deadlines as well as the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
Drama production can involve long and unpredictable work patterns and pressure to meet tight schedules. Normal office hours will generally apply, but a flexible approach to working time is required subject to the BBC’s Condition of Service Code of Practice and Equal Opportunities policies.
