Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the implementation of a number competency improvement initiatives across the site based operational teams in BG Trinidad and Tobago including:

• The front line supervisor Control of Work training and assessment programme.
• Introduction of the Competency Assurance Management System (CAMS) framework for all personnel.
• Embedding of the ‘Operate’ principles into the working practices and behaviors of the site based operations teams.
• Ensure all Operations and Maintenance personnel are assessed as competent to carry out their core discipline and Emergency Response roles.
• Ensure the CAMS database is maintained to be able to demonstrate competency of personnel through their assessment records.
• Conducting Competency Assessments
• Manage, deliver and arrange safety critical training
• Mentoring and coaching candidates
• Support the sustainability of BG T&T’s CAMS programme
• Supervision and co-ordination of a team of Assessors
Key Accountabilities
The incumbent reports to the BG T&T Operations Manager and is responsible for directing the Operations Coaches assigned to the various operational sites to ensure competency of the Operations and Maintenance personnel.
 
• Assigning priorities for the operational Coaches
• Providing BG T&T Management with updates on the status of competency development and assurance for all operational personnel
• Ensuring that the operations community is represented in FFF ‘Operate’ discussions to secure buy-in to the programme outcomes.
• Design and integration of the BG T&T Competency Assurance framework.
• Establishing the training and assessment database for operational sites.
• Confirming the development plans arising form the competency assurance gaps are identified and suitable remedial plans implemented.
• Ensure alignment of frontline staff operations with BG Business Principles, HSSE standards and HR Policy
• Direct control of the operational coaches
• Able to influence the utilization of resources impacted by the competency development programmes, but in direct line control.
• Commitment of assigned training budgets.
• Ensure that the consequence model is rolled out, understood and implemented at all operational sites
• Can select local and overseas companies providing support services to the competency development programmes
• Can influence competency and development profiles and rate of learning for all operational staff.
• Can influence the shape of operational practices emerging form the FFF Operate initiative.
The incumbent is required to influence both internal and external stakeholders. This requires interaction at senior levels both internally and externally.

• Interact at senior levels with BG Advance and Operations Parent Manager to ensure work programmes are in line with Operations requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with training and assessment vendors to ensure integrity of training and assessment programmes for frontline staff.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
• A degree or equivalent in Business or Engineering.
• Track record of managing complex coaching and competency development projects.
• Ability to multi-task and deliver to tight timeframes.
• Ability to work with cross-function teams.
• Ability to communicate succinctly both upwards and downwards through out the organization.
• Able to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Broad understanding of key business drivers in upstream operations.
• Able to apply the consequence model on performance in a balanced and disciplined way.
• Expert knowledge in competency assurance and development.
• In depth knowledge of competency assessment processes.
• Deep understanding of upstream operations challenges and requirements.
• Ability to manage cross functional disciplines.
