The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
The Competency Assurance Engineer will be responsible identifying and prioritizing safety critical roles, safety critical tasks, production critical roles, production critical tasks, to ensure only competent persons are authorized to perform these.

The post-holder will be accountable for designing site specific training and assessment for the identified safety critical tasks and production critical tasks. The site specific training will form an integral part of the competency profiles, together with Position Descriptions, and National Competencies from the appropriate training package.

The Competency Assurance Engineer provides engineering technical expertise within the Training and Competency Assurance team, and is a key interface to the Operations Engineering Team. 
Key Accountabilities
Position Specific
• Reviewing and prioritizing Operations safety critical roles/tasks and production critical roles/ tasks
• Analyse SOPs for technical correctness and liaise with the operations engineering team with amendments and technical authorization.
• Liaise with the Technical Engineering team to design Standard Operating Procedures using P&ID’s, C&E Diagrams, PFD’s manuals, photographs.
• Design site specific technical training and assessment instruments for assessing competency of field operations staff
• Test training and assessment instruments with Training and Competency Assessment Team field trainers/ assessors
• Develop site specific competency profiles with existing positiondescriptions and National Training Package Qualifications
• Assist in identifying TRACCESS database safety critical tasks
• Maintain open communication with the Operations Technical Engineering team to ensure effective MOC procedure occurs when equipment is changed resulting in amendments to SOPs and training and assessment materials.
• Guide the technical instructional design team in technical requirements of QGC plant and equipment.

• Provide input to emergency response plans & procedures.
• Participate in emergency response simulations and training.
• Be available on call out for emergency response.
 
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
 
• Oil and Gas operations experience
• Experience with analyzing safety critical roles/tasks and developing materials for training and assessment.
• Experience in writing technical documents in the Oil and Gas Industry.
• Risk and OHS management

 
Skills
 
• Bachelor of Engineering or relevant experience in field gas plant operations
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• High level of analytical and problem solving skills.
• Initiative and capacity to exercise good judgment.
