Online Communications Manager Fairfood International


Fairfood International is a non-profit global advocacy group with its head office based in Amsterdam and hubs located in several parts of the world. Fairfood International is currently looking for:
Online Communications Manager
Based in Amsterdam
Part-time (32 hours)

Purpose of the position

The Online Communications Manager is responsible for Fairfood’s online presence, namely the website and social media accounts. This means generating high quality and strategic online exposure for Fairfood.  The Online Communications Manager will develop online strategies; manage online communities, search engine optimization and the further development of Fairfood's website in support of Fairfood’s communications strategy.

Department
The Communications and Fundraising department is composed of two specialised and interdependent teams headed by the Director Communications and Fundraising. Each team is composed of several managers headed by a senior manager. The Online Communications Manager reports to the Senior Manager Communications and is a member of the Communications team whose role is to contribute to enhancing Fairfood’s brand, culture and external reputation in support of positioning a fair and sustainable food system as desirable, possible and inevitable and to establish Fairfood as a leading voice in this context.

Responsibilities
1. Further develop and manage online communities
The Online Communications Manager will further develop and manage Fairfood’s online communities (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc.) This will require vision and strategic planning that define how social media can be integrated into Fairfood’s overarching corporate strategy. He/she will increase visibility and traffic across Fairfood’s online communities, recruit more members and deepen the engagement with existing communities. The Online Communications Manager will also be integral to Fairfood’s campaign outreach and help the campaign teams to plan their social media strategies.
2. Web editing
The Online Communications Manager is responsible for the layout of the website and effective showcasing of Fairfood’s web content and advocacy campaigns; this includes managing the uploading and placement of blogs, polls, news, events calendar, and any special projects like surveys or microsites. He/she is on top of new online developments and best practices for websites and increasing traffic while adhering to Fairfood’s branding guidelines.
3. Advise senior management
The Online Communications Manager regularly provides senior management with key information about trends and new developments in social media to ensure the organisation can maintain its strong global profile.

• Great writing, editing and  proofreading skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum higher education (Bachelor Degree) preferably related to digital media, new media, interactive media, communications studies, online journalism or related
• At least 3 years of experience as a web editor, website developer, online communications offer or related
• Demonstrated experience and a passion for the social technology universe (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Flickr, blogs, wikis, RSS, social bookmarking, discussion forums and community software)
• Strong technical background with advanced computer skills, including strong understanding of HTML and CMS
• Knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) an advantage
• Fluent spoken and written English, other languages (Dutch, French) a strong advantage
• Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms including but not limited to Omniture, Facebook Insights, YouTube Insights, Google Analytics, HootSuite, TweetDeck, and Social Mention
• Knowledge of web best practices, website navigation design and flow, content classification, and content management methods and systems
• Affinity with Fairfood’s goals

What we offer
We offer a highly responsible position within an international organisation, providing sufficient opportunities to achieve results and impact. The position is part-time (32 hours). Fairfood International remunerates its staff in line with industry standards, including an annual gross salary of €32,838.81, a personal budget in lieu of pension of €2,627.10 (bases on 40 hours) and reimbursement of work-home travel.
