Summary This is a senior level post, for which the post-holder is expected to show a high-level of enterprise, innovation and dedication. The post-holder will be a member of King’s professional services staff but the role will involve substantial engagement with academic departments and the global institutes. Authority for the role will come through the post-holder acting on behalf of the Vice-Principal International and the Director of External Relations. A significant element of the role is grounded in taking the lead in ensuring that the actions of professional services and academic units are coordinated in the most effective way to enhance King’s international effervescence and reputation, including generating and seeing through initiatives that will raise King’s international profile as an institution engaged in high-quality executive education, international research collaborations, innovative student exchanges, internships and volunteering, summer school programmes and collaborative teaching programmes
Details
- Take a lead in helping develop the College’s Strategy in key areas, by coordinating the underpinning evidence base and support to enable this to happen, including keeping abreast of other HEI activities and the scope to develop a return on investment wherever possible.
- Supporting the Vice-Principal (International) and the Director of External Relations in providing a professional services lead in the College’s engagements in different parts of the world. This may involve hosting international delegations to King’s, advising on international initiatives and collaborations, and instigating, planning and coordinating international delegations from King’s to other countries.
- Supporting the Director of External Relations in developing the international essence of the King’s brand by working with the External Relations Directorate in analysing staff and student data/surveys, alongside producing digital media and print materials that showcase King’s global engagement and vision for the future.
- Coordinating support for academic departments/divisions and global institutes in evolving high-level international partnerships with governments, industry, cultural organizations, NGOs and prestigious university partners. In particular, taking a leading role in building international standing for King’s health initiatives by supporting the establishment of high-quality alliances with overseas partners to generate transnational research programmes and degrees.
- Work with the Director of External Relations in developing and promoting new initiatives that will raise King’s profile internationally, enhance the effectiveness of its international activities and heighten the distinctiveness of King’s international position amongst UK universities (and more globally), especially as regards promoting international research collaborations with universities, research institutes and industry.
- Provide strategic direction and ensure coordination of actions of the International Research Development Team, the Study Abroad & Internships Team, Summer Schools & International Programmes, and the current King’s Worldwide Team. The appointee will be the professional services lead for these teams and for professional services staff in the global institutes.
- Work with the Alumni Office, Fundraising, Marketing and the Press Office to advance the International Strategy.
- Deputise for the Vice-Principal International and the Director of External Relations as appropriate.

Salary The appointment will be made, dependent on qualifications with a salary starting from £70,000, per annum plus £2,323 per annum London Allowance.
