WWF office in Berlin, GermanyMain responsibilities:
- Support conceptual development of land use projects
- Oversee studies and research concerning the impact of land use change due to agricultural use
- Evaluate sociological, economic and ecological site data that effect land use and community development in the project region
- Responsible for planning, monitoring, and evaluation of land use planning and land use management projects and targets managed by the Agriculture Team
- Give expertise concerning the implementation of land use planning and high conservation value areas
- Identify political constraints within the implementation of land use planning and develop counter strategies
- Participate in developing maps
What you need:
Required Qualifications- A university degree and minimum five years’ experience working in land use planning and land use management, and skills related to evaluation of satellite data
- Experience in the field of nature conservation and well founded knowledge of habitat types and mapping in international context
- Expertise in GIS (at minimum intermediate skills)
- Experience working in tropics or sub-tropics, preferably in South America
- Good understanding of the culture, history, politics in the region mentioned above, including key commodity development of the region (palm oil, soy, cattle)
- Proven ability to take ownership of your own projects,
- Must be pro-active, action-oriented, and possess strong organizational and improvisational skills and must be capable of developing creative solutions
- Ability to operate at all levels and liaise effectively with governmental policy and decision makers, as well the business community and multi-cultural teams
- Must be outwardly self-confident with the ability to assert yourself
- Willingness to travel frequently and internationally
- Fluency in English, written and spoken, Spanish is an advantage
