Development

Founded in 1898, and affiliated with what is now New York-Presbyterian Hospital since 1927, Weill Cornell Medical College is among the top-ranked clinical and medical research centers in the country. In addition to offering degrees in medicine, Cornell also has Ph.D. programs in biomedical research and education at the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and with neighboring Rockefeller University and the Sloan-Kettering Institute, has established a joint MD-PhD. program for students to intensify their pursuit of Cornell's triple mission of education, research, and patient care.
Weill Cornell Medical College seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, under direction, to handle all scheduling for both internal and external Public Affairs meetings. Plan Overseers committee meeting and take minutes at the meeting. Working with Development Events team, plan other major Public Affairs events, such as press conferences, seminars, and dinners. Compile and execute Public Affairs reports, such as the monthly Awards and Honors report for the Dean and the quarterly Dean's Letter, and perform basic Internet research on request. Serve as back-up to the Media Assistant in preparing daily and weekly clip reports and distributing press releases. Assist Public Affairs colleagues with special projects such as annual holiday card mailing. Answer main Public Affairs phone line. Distribute and maintain phone lists and contact databases. Answer and/or refer e-mails to the generic Public Affairs address. Write basic response correspondence and letters, including short e-mails and faxes. Maintain Public Affairs events calendar and vacation calendar. Assist the Director of Government and Community Affairs and the Director of Communications.
Requirements: College degree. One to two years relevant experience
Skill and Abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook, including calendaring.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to function well as a member of a team.
Ability to exercise initiative and think creatively and independently.
