Job: Research Fellow
Location: IGS, BRAC University, Dhaka
The Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) is a leading research, training and teaching institute at BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh which aims to promote and support effective, transparent, accountable and citizen-friendly government in Bangladesh and South Asia. For this, it works closely with policy makers in government agencies, local think tanks and research institutes, major universities, reputable international institutes and key Development Partners.
Research on Governance is a core research area for the Institute. The State of Governance in Bangladesh is the flagship publication of the Institute. State of Cities is also an annual publication of the Institute which focuses on urban governance. IGS research team is comprised of diverse group of individuals, their body of work extending in the areas of economic and trade issues, anti-corruption, social and political development, public administration and international affairs.
IGS is now seeking applications from highly qualified and motivated academics/ researchers for joining the team as a ‘Research Fellow’. The ideal candidate should be able to:
1. Take a lead in coordinating and managing the research team
2. Conduct research independently and as part of a team that contributes to the achievement of the aims of the Institute
3. Publish research in high quality journals
Key Incumbent profile:
1. PhD in social science (public administration, political science, economics, international relations, public policy, development studies and closely related field)
2. Strong publication record for stage of career
3. 4/ 5 years of working experience in a national/international research organization with at least 2 years as a lead researcher/ research fellow/ research coordinator
4. Ability to work across disciplines
5. Excellent analytical skill (both qualitative and quantitative)
6. Effective interpersonal and communication skill.
