Barrick Kanowna has a strong presence in the Eastern-Goldfields of Western Australia centred around the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Kanowna operation processes 2 million tonnes of refractory and free milling ore per annum from three underground mines in the region. It has significant exploration lease holdings and is one of the largest employers in the area.
Reporting to the Emergency Response Coordinator the role of Emergency and Security Trainer is responsible for the coordination and provision of an emergency response / security function for the Kanowna Mine Site, which enables the organisation to have fully trained personnel to respond to emergency situations and manage security responsibilities. This position is also responsible for the provision of ongoing emergency response / security training for Barrick Kanowna personnel.
Other duties and responsibilities include -
  • Provision of Emergency Response & Security training and advice to relevant employees
  • Assist Barrick Kanowna in developing, reviewing and implementing their Emergency Plans
  • Participate and lead investigations which require an emergency response / security representative.
To be successful in this role you should have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Cert IV Workplace Training & Assessing
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role providing emergency preparedness and response
  • First Aid qualifications
  • An understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
