Head of Christian Aid Wales

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives.

Christian Aid is working to overcome poverty in some of the world’s poorest communities in around 45 countries. Regardless of race or religion, we help people to tackle the problems they face and build the life they deserve. At home and overseas we also campaign to change the structures that keep people poor, challenging inequality and injustice.

Christian Aid is seeking to recruit a Head of Christian Aid Wales to lead and manage its work throughout the whole of Wales, working with the Wales team to achieve impact on Christian Aid’s goals through outstanding internal collaboration and strong external partnership. You will have considerable experience of leadership at senior management level and of communication to a wide range of audiences. You will have a deep understanding of our member churches and their structures as well as a good understanding of the theological underpinning of Christian Aid’s work and international development issues. You will also be effective at working with the wider public, the private sector and the Welsh Government, with a deep understanding of the Welsh political context.

You will work in close collaboration with the Heads of nation in England, Scotland and Ireland and other teams in the Supporter and Community Partnerships Department. Your inspiring creative approach will enable Christian Aid supporters and communities to express and experience a partnership for change with the world's poorest people through an integrated approach to fundraising, campaigning and prayer.
You will be educated to degree level with postgraduate or equivalent qualification in management, fundraising, advocacy, theology or relevant discipline. You will have knowledge of up to date fundraising methods, together with experience of managing and leading staff and volunteers. You will be confident at speaking in public, preaching and leading church services. A creative and strategic thinker, you will be skilled at budgeting and investing for performance.

You will be bilingual in English and Welsh, with fluency in spoken and written communication.
