International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank
Group, promotes sustainable private sector investment in developing
countries as a means to reduce poverty and improve people’s lives. IFC’s South Asia Department (CSA) is looking to hire an Investment Officer focusing on Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Consumer Services sectors for its Bangladesh operations. The position is based in Dhaka and will report to the Bangladesh Country Manager and the successful candidate will be a key member of the South Asia investment team and, will work closely with IFC offices in the region. | |
| Duties and Accountabilities: | |
|
• Promote and expand IFC’s investment activities in Bangladesh and
neighboring countries, particularly in the Manufacturing, Agribusiness
and Consumer Services sectors. • Proactively seek new investment opportunities in the above-mentioned sectors, be creative and innovative in developing financing structures for potential clients, develop and harness business relationships with private sector clients as well as regulators to identify opportunities, and engage and work closely with regional and HQ colleagues in business development efforts and in winning mandates. • Play a significant role in the due diligence and processing of investment transactions and work as part of a diversified team. Monitor operational and financial performance of clients and compliance (IFC and external), through visits and market analysis. • Learn and keep updated about the key developments in the relevant sectors. • Keep abreast of developments in countries where clients are located; identify and analyze strengths and weaknesses in order to anticipate near-and long term performance. • Proactively identify problem projects and negotiate restructurings. • Stay current with changing business and market environment. • Develop and maintain strong relationship with clients, government officials and technical and financial partners. • Work proactively with Advisory Services colleagues to add value to clients in terms of investments by IFC and/or informal/formal technical assistance, and identify opportunities for repeat business. Develop and execute those opportunities. • Manage portfolio companies until exit. | |
| Selection Criteria: | |
| MBA or equivalent degree At least 10 years of experience in a financial institution (preferably an investment bank or similar organization) with a proven track record in developing and executing successful corporate finance transactions. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to identify issues and present creative, practical solutions. Strong credit skills and writing ability (writing samples required). Ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries. Strong teamwork and excellent presentation skills in English (oral and written). Good business network and contacts No paper mail or faxes please only short-listed candidates will be contacted. This is a 2 year term appointment however open ended staff will retain their appointment status. | |
