Lean Six Sigma Deployment Manager

Transnet Rail Engineering, an operating division of Transnet SOC Limited, requires the services of the following suitably qualified person at its centre in Kilner Park:

Lean Six Sigma Deployment Manager
Branch: Strategy and Marketing
Ref. HR/KNP/D/47

Reporting directly to the GM: Strategy and Marketing, the successful candidate will provide internal expertise and leadership on Lean Six Sigma initiatives in Transnet Rail Engineering, providing sterling leadership in the process of transforming conventional operations into lean value streams. The role includes establishing and coordinating a team of internal Lean Six Sigma practitioners to support and sustain continuous improvement.

Outputs: • Craft and implement a Business Excellence strategy for Transnet Rail Engineering • Guide and coach the Executive and Transformation teams in Lean Six Sigma processes • Develop and deliver training in Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to those involved in the change process • Coordinate, guide and drive the overall transformation activity through a combined approach consisting of a management-driven work stream • Establish the appropriate infrastructure and environment to support value streams and lean workplace operations • Manage the budget for core team activities and resource budget for the total change team • Coordinate and monitor the financial objectives and implications aligned to the Lean Six Sigma process • Embed the Lean Six Sigma methodology within Transnet Rail Engineering.

Minimum requirements: • A Master Black Belt certification/qualification • A B degree in Engineering/Operations/Commerce • 8-10 years’ experience (5 years as a Senior and/or Executive Manager) in the implementation and management of Lean Six Sigma deployment strategies in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge: • Lean Six Sigma methodology • Sound operational/product knowledge and insight into the business • Financial management principles • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project).
