Neutralization Operations General Supervisor Dominican Republic


Job Title:                              POX Operations Neutralization General Supervisor
Reports To:                         POX Operations Superintendent
Location:                              Pueblo Viejo Site
Position Overview:
The incumbent is responsible for the operation of the Neutralization area including: hot cure circuit, CCD circuit, lime boil circuit, Fe & HDS neutralization circuits, copper precipitation circuit, lime & limestone loop circuits, effluent treatment plant and solution & slurry cooling towers. The incumbent will ensure that all plant specific procedures are initiated and are adhered to, as required during Start Up and continuing the operation of the plants. This position will include a fly in/fly out schedule of 4 weeks on site and 3 weeks at home.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
·                     Review and revise and manage SAFE task work procedures that will ensure the SAFE and efficient operation of all of the circuits within area of responsibility.
·                     Review and revise and manage task work procedures that will ensure environmental compliance as they pertain to spills and air emission regulations.
·                     Interact with the HR department, to maintain budgeted manpower when needed to include the EXPAT and operations personnel.
·                     Ensure that training packets & procedures are adhered to inclusive of but not limited to: water treatment operation, thickener operation, reagent SAFE handling & mixing & addition, scaffolding set up and safe descaling of process tanks & vessels.
·                     Establish and communicate the operator positions, job descriptions, skills and training requirements and operator progression for the operations personnel in the POX plant.
·                     In collaboration with the safety department, perform a risk assessment of the operations, including tasks, workplaces and equipment with the goal of determining the critical tasks and workplaces. Review and update as required.
·                     Review the control strategies and participate in the development of the programming of the DCS and control systems. Identify the training requirements for operations personnel of this system.
·                     Develop and write new operating procedures and related documents for the training of operators. An in-depth understanding of processes and equipment as well as proficient writing and computer skills are essential to this position.
 
 
 
During the Start up and operations phase of the project
·                     Continued improvement for supervision an operations team of that will result in a SAFE operation of the POX Operations Department.
·                     Assist, with activities associated with commissioning & start up. Select experienced operations team to succeed with start up of remaining circuits.
·                     Coordinate the maintenance of all equipment as needed. Including proper equipment transfer and lock out of equipment.
·                     Ensure that all operating perimeters within the area are met and direct supervision and other personnel that will optimize plant production and meet environmental targets.  
·                     Lead and implement the safety and training programs, including (but not limited to) the development of the Risk management, Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP’s), Workplace Inspections, Task Observations and Training programs.
 
 
Supervisory Requirements:
·                     Neutralization Supervisors, Neutralization operators & Descaling supervisors,  Operation Planner,  circuit operators.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering is preferred
Experience:
10 years supervisory experience in a plant that includes – thickeners, pH control, reagent handling, water treatment and copper recovery circuit is preferred.
