Job PurposeTo ensure regulatory compliance with all aspects of aircraft and occupational health and safety accident and incident reporting to the appropriate authorities; to assess and decide the appropriate mobilization of company personnel and resources in the event of an aircraft accident or incident and to manage the initial investigation on receipt of safety occurrence reports.
Responsibilities
This role will be required to: 
  • Collate all available information on significant safety events
  • Assess, analyze and evaluate the nature and severity of the incident and decide on the level of notification based on regulatory and company requirements
  • Initiate the notification of accident/incident to the investigatory or regulatory body and activate the emergency response notification to senior management and other appropriate staff
  • Represent the Etihad Safety Department at accident scenes at the Abu Dhabi International Airport by collecting evidence and liaising with the other investigative agencies until the arrival of the main investigation team
  • Ensure all reportable incidents are reported to the regulatory authorities in compliance with the GCAA and Abu Dhabi Department of Transport rules and regulations
  • Process all incoming safety reports into the safety occurrence database
  • Conduct the initial review of all safety occurrence reports in order to determine the level of investigation and area of responsibility
  • Produce daily and ad-hoc summary reports of safety events
  • Coordinate with the MCC and NOC Duty Managers on specific safety requirements that are imposed by the investigative agencies
  • Represent the Etihad Safety Department during regular network operations meetings.
Requirements
Qualification & Education:
  • Diploma certification is required as a minimum. Any qualifications related to airline operations would be advantageous.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years airline operations experience, preferably with two (2) years in safety or quality assurance.
 
Training & Knowledge:
  • Understanding of safety management principles, aviation terminology;
  • Knowledge and practical application of aviation regulations and framework;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • High standard of English language;
  • High standard of computer literacy (Microsoft Office applications).
