With BBC North leading the way in developing new ways of working using both digital platforms and technology, the BBC North Communications team will pioneer these new methods and evolve a more flexible, cross discipline team. 

The Communications Co-Ordinator will be key member of the BBC North communications team. With a clear commitment to integrated, cross disciplinary working this role will be required to work across external, internal, digital and event communications.
 

Role

   
Supporting senior team members, you will actively explore and identify new and interesting avenues for communicating effectively and imaginatively with target audiences. You should also actively take an interest in developments in social and cultural trends, developments in broadcasting and related industries and actively share learning and insights across the division. You will act as an advocate for BBC North online and across new media platforms including the BBC North Website and Twitter, recognising new opportunities and building relationships with key members of staff across M&A, digital stakeholders and BBC audiences.
You will work alongside BBC North departments and wider BBC to support digital activity; including placing online news stories and blogs, social media campaigns and monitoring across digital platforms. Researching and writing copy for press releases, press information, website, social media and BBC Blogs and building  contacts across a range of press and media outlets is also an important aspect of this role.

Requirements

 
·         With an understanding and proven track record of communications and social media, you will have experience of both assisting and managing on all aspects of a project through to completion. You must have the ability to meet set targets and deadlines whilst managing a wide range of concurrent activities and have the ability to work on own initiative whilst seeking appropriate input as required. Excellent IT skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems is essential as is an understanding of media industries (in particular broadcasting) and ideally the BBC’s organisational structure and policies.
