BBC Bangla is part of the BBC World Service, broadcasting on radio in Bangla to South Asia. We also have a website, BBCBangla.com, showing audio/video streams and regularly updated news headlines. So, our output is varied with a strong emphasis on international current affairs. As such, our environment is fast paced with tight deadlines and news updates being the regular occurrence. We broadcast from our headquarters in London, supported by our operations in Dhaka, Delhi and Kolkata. We are seeking a Bureau Editor to lead the team in our Dhaka bureau.

Role
You’ll take responsibility for the planning and promotion of new programme ideas from Bangladesh, leading teams in Dhaka and delivering the highest quality output. Liaising with authorities and local media in Bangladesh on behalf of the BBC as well as supervising the administrative aspect of the production in Dhaka are also parts of the responsibilities.

Requirements
With experience of leading teams, you’ll have strong editorial judgement and an excellent understanding of Bangladeshi socio-political landscape. A good knowledge of the changing media market in Bangladesh is required, as is the ability to respond flexibly and creatively to opportunities, particularly those offered by new technology. Creative flair combined with excellent planning and organising skills is a must as is an excellent knowledge of Bangla and English languages.
