WISE & Healthy Aging is a non-profit social service organization headquartered in Santa Monica. Our mission is to enhance the independence, dignity and quality of life of older adults through leadership, advocacy and innovative services.
WISE Connections is a membership-based "virtual" community that supports aging in place for age 50 or older in the greater Los Angeles area. WISE Connections is a program that enables residents to lead fulfilling, healthy, safe and secure lives by offering social, educational, health and recreational programs with "vetted" business resources at discounted fees.
The Director of WISE Connections will direct, plan and continue the development of the membership-based WISE Connections program. The Director is responsible for all program activities and outreach collaborations with partners, including local businesses, human services organizations, local government, governmental services, etc. throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The Director supervises program staff, interns and/or volunteers. The Director ensures or provides support to WISE Connection members residing throughout Los Angeles, focusing efforts primarily on the Westside communities of Santa Monica, Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades and Marina-Venice. The Director is responsible for the recruitment and retention of members, including events planning and the execution of events.
Primary Responsibilities
- Recruit new members and ensure retention of current members; monitor member activity usage, member satisfaction, member retention and make changes where appropriate.
- Market the program to new community groups, writing content for collateral pieces, website, and new member packets; schedule and make presentations and plan outreach events.
- Expand strategic partnerships and collaborations within the Westside and Los Angeles community.
- Increase services to members including a one-stop "concierge" service approach, with member events such as social activities, friendly visiting, service referrals, etc.
- In conjunction with the chair of the WISE Connections Members' Leadership Advisory Council, lead the oversight process for vendor vetting, as well as other member-related matters/issues.
- Ensure and/or provide WISE Connections members with administrative and customer service.
- Provide direct social work services to members, as needed.
- Collaborate with in-house professional staff to coordinate and deliver services to members, including In-Home Services, Adult Day Service Center, Senior Companion Program and Volunteer Services/RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program).
- Supervise program staff serving WISE Connections members.
- Responsible for the recruitment, training and ongoing supervision of volunteers assisting new and current members as well as make referrals.
- Research, identify, contact and negotiate vendor services on behalf of WISE Connections.
- Maintain vendor relations: updating of business profiles/information, assessing service satisfaction, securing discounts and sponsorship opportunities.
- Develop systems to efficiently process new members, generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, tracking objectives; ensure data bases are maintained.
- Oversee administrative duties, and perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Social Work or related human services area required
- Masters degree in Social Work or related human services area preferred
- A minimum of three years experience working with older adults
- Minimum two years social services and/or healthcare-related work experience
- Marketing and outreach experience required
- Two years supervision and management experience strongly preferred
- Supervision of volunteers a plus

- Demonstration of exemplary customer service
- Strong proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with data base management (Salesforce)
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An attitude of flexibility and adaptability
- Clearance of a criminal background and pre-employment checks
- Automobile and automobile insurance required.
