Principal GEMS Education - Ahmedabad Area, India


Job Purpose

To facilitate implementation of the educational strategy developed for each school and provide leadership in order to achieve or exceed the schools business objectives aligned with GEMS vision, mission& core values.

Job Scope

Manage and oversee all aspects of the school including achievement of all school revenue and profit targets.

Interactions

Internal: Director Education, all school teachers& administrative staff, members of the corporate office.


Key Accountabilities

  • Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.

  • Establish Vision, mission and education strategy for the school and systemically implement long-term plans in order to accomplish the same within fixed timelines.

  • Develop annual operational plans and budgets for the school in line with the long term plans in order to realize the long term strategy, ensure schools are optimally staffed to deliver the schools business objectives of revenue and profit, improve school standards.

  • Provide Professional leadership in terms of curriculum development in order to deliver consistently high standards of education.

  • Create and foster a culture of Pastoral care at every level with respect to teachers & students 

and promote responsible stewardship in order to ensure that the educational  objectivesare delivered and the morale of the school community is maintained to expected standards.

  • Establish and maintain good customer relationship between, a) Students& Teachers b) Parents& Teachers c) school and the community, in order to widen the educational horizons of students, build good community relations and favourably project the image of the school, promoting positively the services provided by the GEMS education group.

  • Ensure that all vital information about the school and academic achievements are captured and reported to the corporate office so that timely and appropriate management decisions are taken.

  • Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

  • Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.

  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

  • Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.

  • Enrolment of students in school& optimum utilization of school facilities.
  • Customer satisfaction with the delivery of education offered.
  • Achievement of profit & revenue targets.
  • Meeting the quality & performance standards set for schools.
  • Staff satisfaction & morale.

Desired Skills & Experience

Person Specifications

Qualifications / knowledge:
First degree in a specialized field, supported by a degree or recognized certificate / diploma in education or education management. Possess subject matter expertise, updated with the latest development on the relevant curriculum, school books and teaching, education & educational management in general.

Skills:
Excellent interpersonal & people management skills, education management and good conceptual thinking skills, innovative, good planning and organizational skills. Effective communicator in managing schools and promoting educational activities of the school.

Experience:
International Experience of delivering the relevant or similar education curricula, systems & Processes in progressive and reputed school(s).At least 10 years in education plus 5 years in a Senior educational leadership role.
