Position Summary
Rashpetco/Burullus is the Joint Venture that operates the WDDM and Rosetta concessions in the Offshore Nile Delta, Egypt. The JV is currently an a very active period of field development with around 12 wells to be drilled in 2013, to be followed by more drilling in 2014 and beyond. The Development Geologist Operations is responsible for well planning, producing geotechnical documents, providing geological input into the drilling operations and delivering post-well analyses for these development projects. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Key Accountabilities
· The candidate will be responsible for the provision of safe drilling targets and ensuring that geological and man made hazards are identified and documented in Geotechnical documents.
· The candidate will ensure that sufficient site survey coverage has been acquired for each proposed well and ensure that the site survey acquisition program is planned in accordance with project timelines.
· Prepare and/or oversee pore and fracture gradient prediction for planned wells using analogue drilling data and seismic interval velocities.
· Perform hazard analysis of seismic data and map proximal anomalies to planned wells and provide risk assessment for inclusion into Geotechnical documents.
· Maintain daily assessment of drilling progress and ensure that well trajectories are within the planned tolerances. Keep observation of actual pore pressures versus predicted.
· Liaise with Petroleum Engineering Department on completion intervals once well data has been interpreted.
· Assist the Field Study Team with updating geological models on delivery of new well data and provide post well updates to management.
· Plan and implement data acquisition programs.
· Present to Partners and BG assurance teams.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
· Well planning and operation experience.
· Expert Petrel/ Geoframe proficiency.
· Well correlation, Seismic interpretation and depth conversion experience is essential.
· 3D modelling experience beneficial.
· Experience in pore and fracture pressure predication.
· Minimum post-graduate degree or higher in Geology or equivalent.
· Wellsite experience would be a definite plus.
· Experience in evaluation of turbidity deposits.
· Excellent presentation skills and clear and convincing report writing ability.
· Must be effective working in a cross discipline team.
· Strong 'delivery' ethic is essential ensuring deadlines for are met.
· Cultural awareness and resilience to thrive in the challenging JV environment.
· Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
