UK Community Fundraising Manager


Community Fundraising (not Institutional/Grants/Proposals etc)
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK (with travel to other offices including London to manage London Team) Salary Scale: £25-30,000 (more for exceptional experience and proven results) HRF Purpose: HRF provides emergency relief aid and assistance to ordinary people caught up in extraordinary, life-threatening situations. HRF’s ultimate goal is to save and preserve life. Job Purpose: The role involves managing the Bradford and London fundraising teams and seasonal campaigns, in addition to developing new individual and corporate fundraising streams. Key Responsibilities • Rather than Institutional Funding applications, this role is to manage existing and develop new community and public fundraising streams throughout the UK. • Strategic Planning and implementation of seasonal, annual, emergency and other National campaigns from start to finish. • Managing and setting of targets/objectives of Bradford and London Fundraising Teams via Team Leaders. This includes recruitment, setting objectives, supervision and appraisals of team members. • Weekly/Fortnightly visits to the London office and travel to meetings. • Managing Bradford and London Fundraising Teams via Team Leaders. This includes recruitment and induction, regular supervision, support and appraisals of team members. • National development of HRF Fundraising agenda and the charity’s recognition, scope and reach. • Maintain existing funding relations, partnerships and streams through quality donor care. • Develop new fundraising opportunities, including corporate fundraising. • Explore and identify new donors and funding sources. • Strengthen HRF’s visibility at, and contributions to, public forums and major institutional stakeholders by forging new and improved relations and appropriate partnerships. • Ensure that the HRF fundraising strategies, long term plans are developed and implemented. • Keeping HRF Director and relevant persons informed about major funding opportunities/threats and the impact to HRF • Ensure HRF fundraising campaigns plans are developed and implemented timely and efficiently. • Manage routine campaigns including mailing campaigns, events, exhibitions, conferences and dinners. • Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities (strategy, identification of potential donors, quality of applications, relationship building with donors) and report as required. • Monitor and report on fundraising progress against the annual income target, including in reports to the Director and other relevant persons. • Manage campaign budgets and any provided to Bradford and London Fundraising Team Leaders. • Intermittent travel to the London office to manage, monitor progress, explain policies, campaign details, motivate staff, attend events/conferences, represent HRF with third parties etc. • Increase recruitment of and manage volunteers through management of Fundraising Teams. • Lead on the development of systems, policies and procedures that guide HRF fundraising work and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation. • Work with colleagues to build the capacity of HRF’s worldwide offices to fundraise independently • Undertake any other reasonable duties that are consistent with the job and at its level of responsibility as and when required by the management
Person Specification • University Degree in Marketing, Fundraising or related field (or relevant work experience) • 4 years experience with NGOs • Proven record of raising funds. • Proven experience of Project, budget and staff management and resource control skills. • Experience of fundraising development and corporate fundraising an advantage • An ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously, prioritise and has excellent time management skills • Able to work independently with little supervision, short deadlines, and limited resources • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to be creative, flexible, and adaptable • Excellent and proven communication and interpersonal skills with a wide variety of multi-cultural, multi-lingual groups, and stakeholders • Clear, concise, skilful and persuasive written communication of an excellent standard with particular attention to detail, proof reading and copy editing skills • Strong IT skills particularly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Email • Familiar with legal and regulatory issues relevant to fundraising, marketing and charitable giving. • Full Clean Driving Licence • Team player
